LINE COOKS

Our Line Cook positions are ideal for individuals in pursuit of a challenge where they will prepare a streamlined menu highlighting the flavors and culture of Jamaica, produce at scale and the potential over time to get involved with other aspects of the culinary business, like catering, events, and product development.

Line Cooks should have at least 2 years experience on the line in a busy Chicago restaurant. We are also open to passionate, positive, hard-workers looking for on-the-job training and experience in a professional kitchen. A degree from culinary school is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions of Team Leader to properly execute menu vision; ensure consistency and compliance with recipes, portioning, cooking and waste control guidelines.

  • Prepare meals as part of a team, upholding the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and safety at all times.

  • Follow Bronzeville Jerk Shack guidelines concerning food and physical safety, cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and equipment/ space.

  • Communicate timely and follow up as appropriate.

  • Other duties as necessary may be assigned by the Team Leader.

 

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Ability):

  • Culinary degree preferred. Experience in high-volume kitchen preferred.

  • Chicago Food Handlers Certification.

  • General knowledge of common computer software and Web browsers

  • Professional, enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player.

  • Self motivated, takes initiative and willing to acquire new skills.

  • Must have a flexible schedule. Willing to work most nights, weekends and holidays.

  • This position will spend 90% of the time standing/walking to service line and customers.

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work efficiently in a limited space.
